OK, so 'spring is in the air' and all that so I have been feeling my annual urge to purge (no - I am not bulimic!) while I wait for my latest order from Knit Picks to come so I can start those two-at-a-time toes up socks. Much like a deep-tread tire down a Michigan dirt road in April, my house has been gradually accumulating unwanted excess throughout the winter. OK, to be fair, my house(s) have been accumulating unwanted stuff for as long as I have had houses to hold stuff.
OK, so we know I have a bit of a yarn habit, but to be fair I didn't buy most of the crap that clutters my house. My husband has relatives with serious home shopping/gifting addictions(hey, I am not passing the buck here -- how many of you can brag that you own SpaceBags, a PurseBrite, and a musical bird call clock?).
So having run three carloads to local charities already this month, I am faced with my other spring urge: redecorating. Through a posting on Freecycle this morning, I came across some great sites for DIY stuff and thought I would share:
Looking at the fabulous photos on Design Sponge makes me want to reupholster a garage sale find in some glorious Amy Butler fabric or mount a sunny yellow pot and pan board on my kitchen wall.
Anybody else feeling that spring cleaning/decluttering compulsion? If so, check out the Fly Lady. She has gotten a little preachy at times but she also has some very helpful tips on how to get started if you are as completely overwhelmed as I often am or how to crisis clean if you have something pressing coming up. Happy Spring!
